Welcome to #1 Fabric Co., your source for first quality, discounted designer fabrics and wallcoverings. We’re talking about some of the amazing designers who have collaborated with Kravet to offer you the hottest in interior design. Let’s talk about Diane von Furstenberg (DVF) who brings her legendary sense of print and color to an exclusive collection done for Kravet.
Diane was born in Belgium, and arrived on the fashion scene in 1972 with her iconic wrap dress, empowering women around the world to feel confident and sexy. Always a trendsetter, she started her company anew in New York City’s Meatpacking District, long before anyone else was there.
Inspired by nature, Diane von Furstenberg is a hiker. She always has her camera with her and snaps shots of the beautiful patterns she discovers outdoors. This is certainly reflected in her collaboration with Kravet. Her exclusive selection of fabrics for Kravet are made up of berry & orange jewel tones, azure blues, animal prints and desert-inspired neutrals. And you can create an exotic edge on your projects with DVF’s custom-designed trim collection.
There are no limits when creating with Diane von Furstenberg’s Kravet Collection. As Diane herself says, “Design your life!”
April, which Kravet designers are you looking forward to decorating with?
April: I’ve gotta say, I’ve been hooked on Jonathan Adler’s designs ever since I bought my first Jonathan Adler cell phone case. His design philosophy is to surround yourself with objects and colors that are uplifting, since the space you are in can really change your mood. With this philosophy in mind, he has collaborated with Kravet to bring us The Utopia Collection. This collection is full of bright, bold and colorful patterns. There are lots of prints on nice, nubby, thick linen and there are incredible wovens and cut velvets. In a word, his fabrics are “fun.”
I discovered that Jonathan Adler started out as a potter, so much of what he has designed for Kravet really was inspired by his roots in making pottery. For example, the pattern “Pots” is one of his linen prints and it has overlayed shapes of pots. “Super Nova” has a motif that came from a pot he made. In the pattern “Electrify” Jonathan takes a diamond motif that he frequently uses on his pottery and he ikats the diamond to create this fresh pattern for Kravet. “Distorted” is a stripe gone wild, and Jonathan says it looks amazing as curtains. Then, there is one of my personal favorites “Anacapri” a heavy velvet that I think would be striking on a club chair or pillows.
Jen: Sounds exciting! Thanks for sharing those details with us.
